Draymond Green reportedly met with the Golden State Warriors personally to let them know that he was ready to opt out of the final year of his contract.

That showed some good faith and left the door open for them to work toward a path to have him back for the long run.

Even so, there are still a couple of teams that could be interested in trying and prying him away from the Bay Area.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Detroit Pistons could make a lot of sense for him, as they’re his hometown team, and they have more than enough money to try and make a run at him, not to mention a big need of some veteran leadership.

He also chose the Sacramento Kings as a potential suitor, considering they freed up a lot of cap space with the deal they made during the NBA Draft.

Even so, Windhorst explained that none of those teams could be appealing enough for Green to consider leaving the Warriors, especially at this point in his career.

Windhorst also cited that the Warriors made a big move toward re-signing him when they traded Jordan Poole for Chris Paul’s expiring contract to free some cap space for the future, opening the door for a potential long-term deal there.

Steve Kerr acknowledged that the Warriors would have a tough time contending for an NBA championship without Draymond Green, and the team will do whatever it takes to keep their defensive star locked in for the future.
