The Los Angeles Angels are a pretty unique franchise.

They keep finding ways to deflate the momentum they have worked so hard to gain this season.

This past weekend is the perfect proof of that.

“The Angels outscored the Rockies by 20 runs this weekend and lost 2-of-3 games to lowly Colorado. LAA has lost 4-of-5 over the last week,” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted.

It’s hard to outscore a team by 20 runs over a three-game series, yet the Angeles did it against the Rockies.

It’s even harder to figure out ways to lose two of the three games even after outscoring a team by 20 runs in three games, yet the Angels did it.

Colorado won the first one, on Friday, by a final of 7-4 after the bullpen couldn’t stop the traffic on the basepaths and Elias Diaz hit an eight-inning grand slam.

History was made on Saturday when the Angels beat the Rockies, 25-1, scoring 21 of the runs in a span of two innings.

On Sunday, however, the Angels sabotaged whatever good image they projected a day before and lost another close game, this time 4-3.

Let’s keep in mind that LA is a winning team, with a 42-37 record, and Colorado has the worst record in the National League at 31-49.

The Angels are lucky the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros are not playing their best baseball right now, which is why they are still six games out of first place in the AL West.

Still, if they want to achieve great things this year, they can’t let a mediocre team beat them in a series.
