The NBA world was shocked last week when it was announced that Chris Paul was a member of the Golden State Warriors.
Paul, one of the most talented guards in the league, will now play alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and the rest of the talented and historic squad.
What does he add to the roster?
According to NBA analyst Jason Timpf, Paul is going to give the team something they desperately need: pick-and-roll expertise.
Speaking with Colin Cowherd, Timpf said that Paul is going to greatly improve the Warriors’ pick-and-roll abilities.
“You have the guy who runs pick-and-roll more than anybody in the entire NBA on a per possession basis going to the team that runs it as infrequently as any team in the NBA,” Timpf said, according to The Volume.

It is true that the Warriors have the least amount of pick-and-rolls in the entire league.
With Paul coming on board, the number of pick-and-rolls they attempt will grow.
“It’s a move for the playoffs,” Timpf added.
He pointed out how the Warriors couldn’t compete with Anthony Davis’ defense during the playoffs.
Because Davis was shutting them down so much, the team had to rely on Curry and pick-and-rolls.
This led to Curry becoming fatigued and, ultimately, the team losing in the second round of the postseason.
Paul will now be part of the lineup and he is very comfortable with multiple pick-and-rolls, among other things.
He will allow Curry to rest more and will bring new energy to the team’s offense.
This could be just the thing that the Warriors need to return to the NBA Finals.
Paul comes with his own set of problems, most notably his recurring injuries, but his ability to make space and manage the floor could really help Golden State.
