The New York Jets seem to have their sights set on reaching the Super Bowl, a place they haven’t been to since the 1968 season.

Back then, it was “Broadway” Joe Namath who boldly guaranteed they would defeat the favored Baltimore Colts, then delivered a 16-7 victory and a world championship.

With future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers on board and a well-stocked roster on both sides of the football, the Jets have been mentioned as a prime candidate for the HBO show “Hard Knocks.”

Head coach Robert Saleh said publicly he doesn’t really want his team to be featured on the program, but it looks like the Jets are prepared to be on it, according to ProFootballTalk.

The Jets are bracing to be told they are doing Hard Knocks despite not wanting the assignment. They have not yet been selected. https://t.co/kMnQ6OR8Tb

The program debuted in 2001 and details one team as it goes through training camp, as well as plenty of storylines surrounding the team both on and off the field.

There are a few other candidates for this coming season’s edition of the show, including the Detroit Lions, a rising young team that many are picking to finish first in the NFC North.

Not too many people outside of the Tri-state area are picking the Jets to win their division, but they do seem to have the horses to not only make the playoffs but also go far once there.

They had the fourth-ranked defense in the league last season behind Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner, and they’re hoping wide receiver Garrett Wilson, 2022’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, will become Rodgers’ new version of Davante Adams.
