Rebuilding in the NBA is never an easy task and can be something that teams get stuck in for quite some time, with the Detroit Pistons being a prime example of that in today’s game.

Ever since the Pistons dominated the competition with Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Ben Wallace leading the way, Detroit hasn’t been able to figure out a way to bounce back and become the dominant force of old.

However, the Pistons have compiled a lot of talent over the last few years as a result of their struggles and could be getting closer and closer to being a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference.

Guard Jaden Ivey remains optimistic about the future of the franchise after another disappointing season for the Pistons, as it seems the team is embracing the underdog role moving forward, via NBA on ESPN.

Last season, the Pistons finished the season with a record of 17-65, with the franchise having its sights set on another high draft pick rather than contending for a playoff spot in the East.

Unfortunately for Detroit, the franchise could not get a high enough pick to select either Victor Wembanyama or Scoot Henderson, so it feels like another loss for a team that desperately needs to turn things around.

Although it seems like doom and gloom in Detroit, the team did bring in a promising young player in Ausar Thompson to join the likes of Cade Cunningham, Bojan Bogdanovic, James Wiseman, and Ivey.

As long as this team can stay healthy, namely Cunningham, it’ll be interesting to see what the young squad can do during the 2023-24 campaign and beyond.
