On Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals had a special visitor at Busch Stadium.
Famous soccer star Matt Turner, who is currently the goalkeeper for Arsenal Football Club and recently made the United States Men’s National Team, was in the house.
While known for his soccer prowess, Turner actually is quite skilled at baseball too and once played.
Though he chose soccer, baseball remains a part of him.
At Busch Stadium on Tuesday, Turner took batting practice before the Cardinals took on the Houston Astros for their series opener.
After he was done, he caught up with MLB Network’s Jon Morosi to discuss his baseball experience ahead of Wednesday’s Gold Cup match.

Turner said that he was ultimately pleased with the swings he took in batting practice on Tuesday.
He said he had to “get the cobwebs out early,” but that once he settled into a groove, he felt comfortable and hit some home runs.
Morosi asked Turner how important baseball was to him when he was growing up.
Turner said it was fun to play in so many different tournaments and learn the game at a young age, discussing everything it took to be successful in baseball.
He also recalled getting to know so many different people and learn about different baseball cultures growing up.
Turner even said that there were several moment in his life where he thought that he was going to choose baseball over soccer, and that if you asked his childhood friends if they thought he would end up a professional soccer player, they wouldn’t have believed it.
Baseball was Turner’s favorite sport as a kid.
