The Tennessee TItans were dealt a big blow ahead of the season.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the league has suspended OT Nicholas Petit-Frere for six games for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.

Per Schefter’s report, the offensive tackle insists he didn’t bet on any NFL games.

However, he did place bets on other sports while in the workplace, which is in clear violation of the league’s policy.

The NFL continues to crack down on these violations, suspending multiple players in the offseason for similar violations.

The biggest irony is that the league has embraced the sports betting industry now more than ever, even allowing the fans to place bets in-games in some stadiums.

Some of their biggest partners and sponsors come from the sports betting world nowadays, yet they don’t want the players putting the integrity of the game at risk by partaking in action.

The league’s policy cites that no player or staff member is allowed to place a bet on any sport while at the team’s premises or during a work-related trip, but they’re free to gamble when they’re on their own time — as long as it’s never on NFL games or NFL-related wagers.

They even had Tom Brady record a series of clips and messages urging the players not to put their careers at risk by placing bets, and judging by the way they’ve dealt with these violations, it’s just a matter of time before they make an example out of a player, just like it happened with Calvin Ridley last year.
