NFL Insider Names 3 Players Being Suspended Indefinitely For Gambling

The National Football League is looking to send a clear message to those players who are still interested in placing bets on NFL games: Don’t do it.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league has now suspended three more players indefinitely for betting on NFL games last season.

Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry of the Indianapolis Colts and free agent Demetrius Taylor are being suspended indefinitely through at least the the 2023 season for betting on NFL games last season.

Free agent DT Demetrius Taylor — who spent last season with the Detroit Lions — and OLB Rashod Berry and CB Isaiah Rodgers of the Indianapolis Colts won’t be eligible to suit up and take the field for at least one season after the suspension.

The league’s gambling policy clearly prohibits players from placing any sort of NFL-related bets, even if it’s on another team’s game or if they’re not playing.

Staffers and players are also banned from placing bets on any sports while at the team’s facility or during team travel, looking to protect the integrity of the game.

This isn’t an unprecedented situation by any means.

Former Atlanta Falcons star WR Calvin Ridley was also handed a one-year suspension without payment and was reinstated after one season.

Ironically, the NFL has now partnered with several sports betting giants, incentivizing the fans to try and place wagers on pretty much every single thing that revolves around the league, from the coin toss to game, player, and team props.

Of course, that doesn’t mean they want players joining the action, as it could lead to an obvious conflict of interest that would only hurt the credibility of the game, so they’ll look to keep making an example out of those who dare break the rules.
