The defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies are starting to play some solid baseball.

They have won four consecutive games and are 7-3 in their last 10.

Though they are 10 games back of first place in the NL East, they are just 1.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot.

On Thursday, Philadelphia picked up an important win over the slumping Chicago Cubs, and catcher J.T. Realmuto made an impressive play.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Phillies led the Cubs, 3-1, when Nick Madrigal hit a tapper up the first-base line.

Madrigal was speeding to first, but Realmuto got to the ball in time and made a quick throw to barely nab the speedy Cubs infielder.

On Twitter, MLB posted the video of this highlight.

Realmuto certainly made a very athletic play to retire Madrigal.

The veteran catcher had to dive to make the throw, but he was just in time to send Madrigal back to the Cubs dugout.

Realmuto is no stranger to solid defense, having won two Gold Gloves over the course of his career.

But he had to put his defensive prowess to the test on this play, as Madrigal was almost to first base before the veteran catcher made the throw to nab him.

He joined the Phillies prior to the 2019 season after spending the first few years of his career with the Miami Marlins.

Last season, he helped guide them on their magic carpet ride to the Fall Classic.

The Phillies are hot again, and Realmuto is set to lead them on another run.
