After a disappointing end to the NBA playoffs, with the Cleveland Cavaliers losing to the New York Knicks in five games in the first round, moves needed to be made this summer in order to get this team back on track to contend in the Eastern Conference.
The Cavaliers didn’t wait long to make a move once NBA free agency got underway on Friday afternoon, with the team addressing the need for improved shooting.
According to Tom Withers of The Associated Press, the Cavaliers have agreed to terms with sharpshooter Georges Niang on a three-year deal worth $26 million.

This is a solid move for the Cavaliers, which was rumored to happen before free agency started on Friday.
Although this isn’t a move that will drastically change their chances of being a title contender in the Eastern Conference moving forward, the addition of Niang definitely is a step in the right direction and improves the squad immediately.
Last season, Niang was lights out from beyond the arc, shooting 40.1% from deep and going 44.2% from the floor.
Niang will help spread the floor for the Cavaliers and take some of the pressure off their star players during the 2023-24 NBA season, which is obviously a move to improve the squad.
The question now is what else can the Cavaliers do to improve the team ahead of next season, and will they improve enough to contend with the best of the best in the Eastern Conference after failing to live up to expectations last season?
