With a 41-42 record, the Cleveland Guardians are tied with the Minnesota Twins for the AL Central lead.
To this point, they haven’t lit the world on fire, but they have done enough to lead a mediocre division and stay in contention.
Two men have been behind Cleveland’s success not just this year, but for a few seasons now: infielder Jose Ramirez and reliever Emmanuel Clase.
The former has been a perennial MVP candidate for years, and the latter has been the American League’s most effective reliever for some time, too.
Both of them will be going to Seattle to represent the Guardians and the city of Cleveland in the 2023 MLB All-Star Game.
“Guardians All-Stars: José Ramírez and Emmanuel Clase. Ramírez said he’d welcome the chance to participate in the Home Run Derby again if the league invited him,” Guards insider Zack Meisel tweeted.

Ramirez, who has 13 home runs this year and 205 for his career (as a 5-foot-9 guy with a small frame, too), also expressed his desire to participate in the Home Run Derby one more time should MLB extend an invitation.
J-Ram was in 2022 edition of the competition.
For this year, there are five confirmed contestants: Pete Alonso, Mookie Betts, Julio Rodriguez, Randy Arozarena, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
All of them have an excellent reputation of power hitting, and Ramirez is no exception.
He hit 29 last year and 36 in 2021, with a career-high of 39 in 2018.
He might not have the look of a slugger, but his barrel control and fly ball tendencies have given him an impressive output over the years.
He is definitely one to watch as the league fills out the list of participants.
