The San Francisco 49ers have been Super Bowl contenders for way too long, yet they can’t seem to get over the hump.
It’s been almost three decades since they last hoisted the Vince Lombardi trophy, and even though they’ve been quite close recently, their QB situation has continuously been a hurdle they just can’t get past.
That’s why Joy Taylor believes that situation could catch up with them as early as this season, predicting it is about time a Head Coach — namely, Kyle Shanahan — gets blamed for it.

Taylor explains that Brock Purdy isn’t great, and while they’re high on him, his injury prevented him from having the kind of offseason the team needed and wanted him to have.
Trey Lance has been far from impressive — or healthy — in his brief time in the league, and Sam Darnold’s numbers speak for themselves.
Taylor adds that Super Bowl windows aren’t open forever.
Injuries, trades, salary-cap moves, and whatnot could derail a team from contention, and that might be the case with the Niners if they don’t get the job done this season.
They have one of the most stacked offenses in the game with countless weapons for whoever plays at QB, and their defense seems to be even better.
But this is a quarterback’s league, and like it or not, there’s simply no way a team can go the distance unless they have a solid situation at the position, regardless of how good their defense is or how well-coached they are.
