Matt Olson Is Closing In On An Aaron Judge Record

When discussing the most impressive power hitters in MLB, Atlanta Braves slugger Matt Olson is often overlooked.

People tend to say Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Pete Alonso, Yordan Alvarez, Juan Soto, and Ronald Acuna Jr. before Olson.

The truth is that Olson’s raw power can compete with just about anyone in baseball.

Not only that, but he is also as consistent as they come.

That’s probably why the Braves chose him as Freddie Freeman’s replacement for the long term.

Olson is actually very, very close to surpassing Judge as the owner of a cool recent record.

Per Codify Baseball, Olson is just two home runs away from tying Judge with the most in baseball since the start of the 2018 campaign.

Judge has done it in fewer games, but that doesn’t take anything away from what Olson has done.

Hitting 181 long balls over a span of six seasons is impressive.

If you consider that one of those seasons was 60 games long and another one is still underway, he gets even more credit.

This year has been extremely productive for the first baseman, as he has slashed an impressive .254/.361/.577 with 29 home runs, a number that leads the National League and trails only Ohtani in MLB.

Olson has been a consistent force in the middle of the Braves lineup, driving in 70 runs and scoring 68.

We haven’t even reached the All-Star break, and that makes all his totals even more noteworthy.

As long as Olson is healthy, Atlanta will have a great chance of winning the World Series like they did in 2021.
