Dalvin Cook’s release from the Minnesota Vikings was surprising to many fans.
He has been a cornerstone for this offense over the past several years, but it appears that the two sides couldn’t work out a contract.
Now, Cook is in search of employment elsewhere and is linked to a few teams across the league.
One of those teams is the New York Jets, who could be in search of insurance for Breece Hall, who is coming off an ACL tear.
In a recent segment of ‘Get Up’ on ESPN, Jeremy Fowler indicated that the Jets have “done their homework” on Cook.
Some interesting #Jets notes from @JFowlerESPN: the Jets have done their ‘homework’ on Dalvin Cook (@dalvincook) ‘they’re in the mix’ + things remain slow on a Quinnen Williams extension they could have an issue if not done prior to training camp + some players could be asked to… pic.twitter.com/f4hEmdcK6w

Fowler expressed the belief that the Jets are still a viable option for Cook.
Just like anything else, however, the contract has to make sense for both parties.
There is a continuously growing trend across the league, as fewer running backs have received long-term contracts.
The NFL’s pass-friendly nature doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, which could be bad news for players like Cook.
However, Hall’s injury seems to be serious, as there isn’t a definite timetable for his return.
Hall was one of the most highly-touted running back prospects over the past several years.
While he showed brilliance in his first NFL season, an ACL injury provides a lot of unknowns.
Cook would be a welcomed addition to this offense, which has recently added several new pieces.
This continues to be a developing story, as Cook along with several other marquee backs remain unsigned and on the market.
