In three seasons with the New York Knicks, Obi Toppin flashed his potential at times, not to mention his outstanding athleticism, and it tantalized long-suffering Knicks fans.
But just days ago, the Knicks agreed to trade Toppin, who is from the borough of Brooklyn, to the Indiana Pacers for two second-round picks.
It is a trade that had people across the Tri-state area scratching their heads, but in Indiana, Toppin may get more playing time and more of an opportunity to develop.

So far in his NBA career, the 6-foot-9 man has averaged 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 14.7 minutes a game, and he has served up some notable highlight dunks.
This past season, he had two games with over 30 points, and ironically, both performances came against the Pacers.
The Pacers have a lack of viable forwards who have length, and Toppin has an opportunity to fill that void right away.
They haven’t gotten past the first round of the playoffs since the 2013-14 campaign, but they suddenly have a squad that looks at least somewhat competitive.
Their centerpiece is guard Tyrese Haliburton, who averaged 20.7 points and 10.4 assists this past season, and the 23-year-old should give them lots of production for years to come.
They also have sharpshooter Buddy Hield and 3-and-D center Myles Turner, who they recently gave a big contract extension to.
The newcomer that can help Indiana become competitive again is wing Bruce Brown, who just helped the Denver Nuggets win the NBA championship as a sixth man and could get a starting job with his new team.
