The Houston Texans headed into this NFL offseason with the goal of making some potential game-changing moves in order to right the ship and get this franchise back on track as a perennial playoff team in the AFC.
During the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans addressed their future on both sides of the football by drafting potential franchise quarterback C.J. Stroud at No. 2 overall and then trading for the No. 3 pick to bring in defensive end Will Anderson Jr.
Both moves could ultimately backfire on the team, with the franchise having to start over in a few years, or could be exactly what’s needed to build a winner in Houston.
One man who will help determine this franchise’s future is new head coach DeMeco Ryans, who is already getting high praise from All-Pro tackle Trent Williams.
The San Francisco 49ers star believes the Texans got a steal with Ryans, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2.

Ryans played for the Texans to start his career in the NFL and was quite successful, earning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2006 and being named an All-Pro in 2007, and two Pro Bowl appearances afterward.
Although Ryans had some success as a player in the NFL, that doesn’t always translate to a promising coaching career, as some players can lead by example on the field rather than teaching players how to play at a high level.
Fortunately for Ryans, he’ll have the ideal situation to prove himself in Houston, with some talented young players at his disposal and a few years to put it all together.
