MLB has been looking to grow the game and advertise some of its best young players.

You can tell how that is going by looking at yearly merchandise sales.

Well, MLB recently released the most popular jersey sales for the first half of this season.

Many of the names at the top of the list are expected.

We start the list with Ronald Acuna Jr., Shohei Ohtani, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Aaron Judge.

Both Acuna and Ohtani are the heavy favorites for the MVP awards in their respective leagues.

It makes sense why people want to be wearing their jerseys.

But there is one name on this list that sticks out.

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is ranked as the 13th most-sold jersey.

That is surprising because Votto has been injured most of the year.

Also, he has been in the league so long that most people should already own his jersey.

Votto went to Twitter to discuss how his jersey sales are so high.

It might be due to him buying all of his jerseys.

I have a confession, I may have stayed up late a few too many nights online shopping at the team store. I’ve got A LOT of extra VOTTO jerseys. https://t.co/ZOSXy1yL6b

Votto has always been a jokester and his response is on par with that.

It is clear he still has many fans in the Cincinnati area and around MLB who want his jersey.

In the 17 games Votto has played this season, he is hitting .246 with seven home runs and 18 RBI.

He has been a steady producer for the Reds, especially against right-handed pitching.

Cincinnati has seen a youth movement come to their team but they still need a veteran presence like Votto.

He will be great in the locker room and can be a mentor for a lot of their young players.
