The Los Angeles Dodgers are a team that is expected to be one of the best each season.
Looking at their payroll and the All-Stars on their roster, they should always be in the mix.
While they are having a good season this year, they have a few weak spots on their team.
One of the spots where they have struggled is with starting pitching.
Due to many injuries, the starting rotation has been a revolving door.
According to Codify, the Dodgers have a team ERA of 4.50 on the year.
First half ERA, Los Angeles Dodgers:
2012 – 3.33
2013 – 3.62
2014 – 3.29
2015 – 3.30
2016 – 3.43
2017 – 3.15
2018 – 3.52
2019 – 3.40
2021 – 3.17
2022 – 2.96
2023 – 4.50

That is a full 1.5 runs more than they had in the first half of last season.
The Dodgers have had eight pitchers start four or more games this year.
Yet only Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May have ERAs under 3.00.
The Dodgers have not been afraid to go into their minor league system for help.
Rookies Bobby Miller and Emmet Sheehan have made solid contributions this year.
For the Dodgers to be the kings of the National League again they need to figure out their pitching.
Seeing them enter the trade market looking for an established starter would not be a surprise.
One massive name that has been linked to the Dodgers is Shohei Ohtani.
Ohtani could be on the move if the Angels decide to sell at the deadline.
He will demand one of the biggest trade packages in MLB history.
But, Ohtani on the Dodgers should make them the favorites in the National League.
There is still a lot to sort out over the next few weeks but you can be sure the Dodgers will be looking to improve.
