For many years, J.J. Watt was one of the NFL’s top defenders.

During his time in the league, Watt was a perennial All-Pro and won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award on three separate occasions.

He spent the majority of his career with the Houston Texans, but his final two years were spent with the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite making the move to the Cardinals, Watt has recently indicated that he nearly signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a recent conversation on the Green Light Podcast via the NFL’s website, Watt discussed that he didn’t want to be a distraction for his brother, T.J.

Watt noted that he would have been ecstatic to play with his brother, but also said, “The last thing I was going to do was come in and take any money away from his contract.”

His brother later signed a four-year, $112 million deal to stay with the Steelers.

It appears that Watt doesn’t have any regrets, and seems proud of his brother’s on-field accomplishments, and his ability to get a massive contract.

Watt’s career certainly ended on a high note, despite the Cardinals’ record in 2022.

He made an impact on two organizations, and his off-field efforts have been a benefit to many local communities across the United States.

Still, one has to wonder what it would have been like to have two Watt brothers on the same field, playing on the same team.

That dream will unfortunately not become reality, much to the dismay of NFL fans across the league.
