The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to look significantly different in 2023 than they did in 2022.
Several pieces of their roster are changing, but the most significant part is the quarterback position now that Tom Brady has retired.
Brady was known not only for his on-field greatness but also for his ability to lead a team off the field.
In the absence of Brady, it appears that Tristian Wirfs will look to step up, carving out an increased leadership role for himself on the team.
According to the Vikes Verified Podcast via the NFL’s website, Wirfs said that he is “Trying to be someone the younger guys can lean to.”

Wirfs has taken it upon himself to be a leader for the young players within the Buccaneers’ organization, even though he only has four years of NFL experience.
He later recognized this balance, saying “I still feel young, but going into Year 4, I’ve been to the Super Bowl, been to the playoffs.”
Wirfs has already been through a lot in his four years in the league, and having a Super Bowl title under his belt is credibility for him with the younger players on this team.
Now that Brady is gone, players like Wirfs will not only have to step up in terms of leadership but also with their on-field abilities.
The Buccaneers have a lot of unanswered questions at the quarterback position, which means Wirfs and the offensive line will need to work extra diligently to protect their new leader.
