The Boston Celtics lost two key role players in the offseason.
First, the Kristaps Porzingis trade cost them Marcus Smart.
Then, they lost Grant Williams as a restricted free agent, even though they could’ve afforded to bring him back.
Still, Williams won’t cry over the spilled milk.
If anything, he’s looking forward to the opportunity of playing alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, who he called ‘great guys with great personalities,’ according to NBA on ESPN.

Williams was one of the most versatile and serviceable role players of the Brad Stevens era as both a coach and a GM.
He can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting skills, he dives for every loose ball, he can guard multiple positions, and he’s the kind of team-first kind of guy all teams should look to get at a discount.
The Mavericks have been one of the biggest winners of the offseason thus far, revamping their roster around Kyrie and Doncic and adding versatile defenders and tough-minded players that complement them.
There’s no denying that a backcourt consisting of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic can score in bunches, but the defense will always be a huge liability, which is why they desperately needed to address that in the offseason, especially after watching them plummet in the standings in the second half of last season.
Williams could have an expanded role with his new team, and he could be a key contributor in their postseason runs for the next four years or so.
