NBA Insider Says The Heat’s Offer For Damian Lillard May Be The Best They Can Get

Damian Lillard has finally told the Portland Trail Blazers that he wants to be traded.

But on that same note, he’s also let them know that he only wants to play for the Miami Heat, thus severely hampering his trade value.

In a regular situation, Lillard would be one of the most sought-after players in the Association, but this changes everything.

That’s why Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, via NBACentral, believes that even though the Blazers are far from impressed with the offer the Heat made them, it might as well be the best they could get right now.

“Portland doesn’t love what Miami has but it may be the best that they can get”

That’s because the Heat are at least trying to gather as many valuable assets as they can get to pull off a deal for Lillard, whereas no other team should have a legit incentive to go after him.

Lillard’s agent has reportedly been in touch with every single team that has shown even minimum interest in trading for Lillard to let them know that the All-Star guard has no any intention whatsoever of playing somewhere else other than Miami, with another source close to the situation stating that Lillard wouldn’t even show up to training camp.

Some people have criticized Lillard for taking player empowerment way too far, as he’s still got four years left on his contract and shouldn’t have a say in where he’s traded to.

Then again, this is just how business is conducted in today’s NBA, and it might come to a point where the Blazers have no choice but to comply with him.
