If anyone doubted that Hurts has arrived as a primetime quarterback, this is proof that he has.

Of course, there was a time when it seemed he would never blossom at all.

As a sophomore at the University of Alabama, he was benched against the University of Georgia in the national championship game in favor of Tua Tagovailoa, then a freshman, when the Crimson Tide fell behind 13-0 at halftime.

In his rookie season in the NFL, he replaced Carson Wentz as the Eagles’ starter late in the season, only to be benched in the final game of the schedule.

But this past season, he threw for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 66.5 percent of his passes, earning him his first spot in the Pro Bowl.

Hurts took Philly all the way to the Super Bowl, where they held a 10-point halftime lead, only to lose to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

With rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who was this year’s No. 9 overall pick, now on board, many are picking the Eagles to return to the big game.

Having the heartbreaking experience of losing a world championship under his belt just may allow Hurts to take his team all the way this time around.
