It has now been nine years since the Seattle Seahawks won their first and only Super Bowl championship, and it is something the natives of Washington State will never forget.

Although it was their “Legion of Boom” defense that led the way, arguably their biggest star was running back Marshawn Lynch.

During the Major League Baseball All-Star festivities on Monday night at T-Mobile Park, Lynch was honored before an adoring crowd.

Lynch, who was the No. 12 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, started his career with the Buffalo Bills.

He spent his first three seasons and change with them, and although he made the Pro Bowl in 2008, he didn’t bear a lot of resemblance to the force he would become later.

After being traded to Seattle midway through the 2010 campaign, Lynch exploded and activated “Beast Mode.”

He ran for 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns during the 2011 season, then exploded for 1,590 rushing yards the following season.

During the Seahawks’ 2013 dream season, Lynch led the NFL with 12 rushing touchdowns and tallied 1,257 rushing yards.

Perhaps they weren’t a very exciting football team, but they were a great one, as they shut down opponents defensively, then ran them to exhaustion with Lynch’s talents.

He ended his career with five Pro Bowl selections, one All-Pro First-Team nod and, of course, his Super Bowl ring from the 2013 campaign.

Since his final season in 2019, Lynch has remained involved in the Puget Sound region by joining the ownership group of the National Hockey League’s Seattle Kraken in 2022.

There is no doubt he will always be a legend in the Emerald City.
