Every year, the HBO series “Hard Knocks” follows one NFL team around during training camp and focuses on certain players, not just on the field but also at home and with their families.

The New York Jets had been suggested as a prime candidate to be this year’s featured team, but head coach Robert Saleh made it clear a few weeks ago that he didn’t want his team to be selected.

Despite his protests, the Jets will indeed be on “Hard Knocks” this summer.

NFL and NFL Films have selected the New York Jets to serve as this year’s team on Hard Knocks, per sources.

Perhaps the biggest reason the Jets are such a good candidate for the series is the arrival of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has seemingly given them their best shot at winning the Super Bowl in literally half a century.

Some fans feel the polarizing and enigmatic signal-caller hates the mere idea of being on “Hard Knocks.”

Lolol

I know Rodgers is not happy about that.

Gotta love it

Still, plenty of people are looking forward to seeing New York on the series.

It has been a while since the Jets had any real hope of being competitive, let alone winning it all.

They last made the playoffs in 2010, and even though they reached the AFC Championship Game for a second straight season that year, they weren’t an especially overpowering team, despite what then-head coach Rex Ryan wanted people to believe.

The Jets haven’t been world champions since the 1968 campaign, when “Broadway” Joe Namath guaranteed a Super Bowl win, then delivered one versus the favored Baltimore Colts.

They may not win it all this winter, but they should at least have a squad that will have some say in which team will.
