Before last season, the Philadelphia Eagles seemed like a mediocre football team, with a young quarterback in Jalen Hurts that many were not sold on as being the next franchise quarterback for the storied franchise.
During the 2022 campaign, Hurts officially became a legitimate superstar in the NFL as he defied the odds throughout the regular season and led his team to the Super Bowl while being the consensus best team in the NFC.
Even though the Eagles fell short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Hurts and company gave Patrick Mahomes and his squad a run for their money, which has convinced one veteran player in Philadelphia of one thing.
Veteran tight end Dallas Goedert believes that Hurts made so much progress last season that he is now the second-best quarterback in the NFL to Mahomes, via Pro Football Talk.

Although Goedert has a biased opinion considering that he’s catching passes from Hurts as a member of the Eagles, he won’t get as much pushback for this take as he would’ve before last season.
Hurts has made tremendous strides to prove he’s among the elite players in the NFL at the quarterback position, but he may not be No. 2 on the list in the opinions of many, with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals arguably having that distinction for what he’s been able to accomplish in a short amount of time.
One thing is for sure; however, the quarterback position is incredibly talented in the league right now, with many promising young players on the rise, including Hurts and Burrows.
