The Philadelphia Phillies are hoping to climb up the standings in the second half of the season.

It looks like the NL East is out of the picture, but they can still make a run to the top of the Wild Card standings.

The Phillies were playing great baseball heading into the All-Star break.

They were 23-11 from the beginning of June until the break.

One of the many reasons for their success has been their pitching.

According to Codify, no team has a better ERA since June 1 than the Phillies.

ERA since 6/1:

3.16 PHI
3.52 SD
3.58 ATL
3.65 SF
3.68 TOR
3.70 TB
3.73 CHC
3.74 MIA CLE
3.77 BOS
3.84 CHW
3.91 SEA
3.98 BAL
4.01 NYM
4.03 NYY
4.04 MIN
4.05 MIL
4.27 HOU
4.43 ARI
4.51 TEX
4.55 DET
4.56 LAD
4.75 LAA
4.76 CIN
4.99 STL
5.04 OAK
5.05 PIT
5.19 WSH
5.62 KC

Their 3.16 team ERA in that time is elite and .36 runs better than anyone else in baseball.

One pitcher that has stepped up for the Phillies is Taijuan Walker.

In June, he made six starts and had an ERA of 1.50 in those games.

Also, Ranger Suarez has continued to make strides as a starting pitcher.

Over the past 30 days leading up to the break, Suarez has a 2.87 ERA in five starts.

Now all the Phillies need are there two aces in Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola to start pitching better.

If those two can pitch up to their standard, the Phillies will be a dangerous team over the second half.

Last season, the Phillies made the World Series from the final Wild Card spot.

They currently sit a half-game out of the third Wild Card spot and have plenty of competition.

For a team with the payroll like the Phillies, anything short of another World Series run will be a disappointment.
