Suns Owner Discusses If The Team Is Done Making Moves

The Phoenix Suns were one of the most aggressive teams of the NBA offseason.

Obviously, losing Chris Paul was a big blow, but replacing him with Bradley Beal only made them an even stronger contender.

Then, they doubled down on their championship chances by signing multiple serviceable veterans.

And even though new owner Mat Ishbia recently stated that they’ll always look for more ways to get better, he also admitted that they’re not actively looking to make more moves right now, according to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Central.

“We evaluate opportunities all the time. When teams approach us, we’re looking at everything. At the same time, I don’t think we need to make any changes at this time to compete for a championship.”

Ishbia has been uber-aggressive since taking over the team, trading for Kevin Durant and then for Bradley Beal, and proving that he’s not afraid to go way over the luxury tax and pay as much money as it takes to win a ring.

The Suns committed most of their money to four guys, and that could pretty much doom them for years under this new CBA, so it will only make sense and be worth it if they win a championship now.

They added a lot of depth by signing multiple long guys with positional versatility and also adding several plus-shooters from beyond the arc.

Frank Vogel will continue to build on the team’s defensive identity, and Deandre Ayton might be the X-Factor behind their championship aspirations.

Then again, what’s good on paper isn’t always good on the court, and this team could either go down as a dominant juggernaut or as one of the biggest failures in the history of professional sports.
