LeBron James just confirmed what most people already knew: He’s not going to retire from the NBA, at least not for now.
James took the stage at the ESPYs and talked about how he’s only going to walk away when he feels like he’s ‘cheating the game’ and then demanded people respect him even if they don’t like him.
That led to countless reactions and criticism on social media, with his critics citing that he always wants to make everything about himself and calling him corny.
Notably, Dan Patrick may feel the same way about that announcement.
“Let’s wait until it’s done and then we’ll give you your flowers. You don’t need your flowers…How about we wait until you walk into the sunset.”

Per Patrick, James should just play instead of talk as if he was a big underdog story, as he’s always been considered one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
Patrick said that it was like LeBron constantly needed his flowers, but it would be best if he just waited until he actually retires before people give him his.
He also said that the key for him to stay competitive and not cheat the game would be to embrace and accept the fact that he may have to be a second or third scoring option going forward.
Patrick said that it’s pretty clear that Anthony Davis will never step up and be the Lakers’ go-to guy at this point, but James might have to take a step back to someone else to prolong his career.
That’s going to be an odd sight, but it might also be the only way he can stay in the game for longer.
