The Los Angeles Chargers finished the 2022 season with a 10-7 record, which was good enough for a Wild Card spot.
This was Justin Herbert’s first playoff experience and a sign of his growth as a passer in Brandon Staley’s offense.
Herbert played well in his third NFL season and will look for continued success in 2023.
Recently, his teammate, Austin Ekeler appeared on the Rich Eisen Show, who gave a glowing report about Herbert.
“I know he’s going to be locked in, even more than he ever has,” Ekeler said.
This could have been a difficult conversation for Ekeler, as he is still amid a contract dispute with the Chargers.
He, along with many other running backs in the league, are upset with the amount they are being paid.
The position has continued to be devalued across the NFL, as more and more teams are trading their veterans for young, inexpensive players.
Despite his current woes, Ekeler continued to sing the praises of Herbert, one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.
While Herbert has found individual success, the Chargers have yet to make a dominant playoff run during his tenure.
The Chargers still find themselves in the AFC West, a difficult division, considering the Kansas City Chiefs’ consistent dominance.
Throughout the offseason, the Chargers have made significant organizational changes, including the addition of Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator.
Can Herbert, Ekeler, and the rest of their offense put everything together in 2023, perhaps even dethroning Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs for the division lead?
