Over the past couple of years, the Puerto Rican League has become a nice destination for former NBA players.

It’s close to home, the pay isn’t that bad, and it’s way more competitive than people think.

If you don’t take our word for it, just ask Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, who recently took the floor to watch the league finals.

DeMarcus Cousins, Hassan Whiteside, Brandon Knight, Terrance Jones, and even former James teammate Norris Cole are just some of the NBA alumni taking their talents to the Caribbean tournament.

To think that LeBron would ever even consider playing in that league is a bit of a stretch.

He still has at least a couple of years playing at the highest level left in his tank, and not many teams would be able to meet his financial demands for a full season.

Still, props to The King for showing up to watch some good hoops and certifying the meteoric rise of this tournament, proving that there should be no shame in playing there.

Among all the NBA players still making a living in Puerto Rico, Boogie Cousins seems to be the likeliest to make a comeback to the league, considering he dominated there and proved that he’s still far from done as a professional hooper.

Still, considering his reported character issues and the bad rap he’s gotten in the league throughout the course of his career, it might take a little more to convince GMs to give him another chance.
