With the Washington Commanders finally able to move on from longtime owner Daniel Snyder, the struggling franchise can focus on putting the pieces back together again in the nation’s capital, with new owner Josh Harris and his ownership group determined to turn things around.

Unfortunately, the team has changed ownership at a difficult time to make drastic changes, with training camps getting underway across the league, which means the majority of moves during the offseason have already been made.

That said, the Commanders will have to head into training camp with the team as currently constructed, even if some things need to happen as soon as possible to help right the ship in Washington D.C.

As the ownership turns over to Harris and his group, Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports makes a case for things that need to be done in order to get this franchise back on the right track as soon as possible, via The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

“You’ve got to make a decision on Sam Howell by Halloween.”

With star defensive end Chase Young always seeming to be a liability due to his constant injury issues, McIntyre is right on the money on saying the team should trade away someone who was once considered to be the future face of the franchise.

As for Ron Rivera, this also makes a lot of sense, as starting from scratch with a new voice is always a good idea in these situations, especially if a talented head coach is available and is anxious to take on the challenge.

Sam Howell is another story, however, as they should let him play out the season unless his poor play is so bad that a change is necessary.

They should give the young quarterback a shot to prove himself, and Halloween might not be enough time to see significant progress.
