One of the most underrated moves of the NBA offseason was the sign and trade that sent Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks.
Williams may not be seen as much more than a role player, but he is just what the Mavericks need.
He is a good defensive player and can knock down some open shots.
Also, the Mavs were able to pay him a contract he was looking for.
Williams went on “The Old Man and the Three” podcast to talk about how he fits in with Luka Doncic.
Williams mentioned how Doncic is a great passer and is always looking to find the open man.
Also, Doncic is one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league.
The attention he brings onto himself should free up Williams to get wide-open looks.
Dallas should be one of the most interesting teams in the league next year.
They brought back Kyrie Irving in free agency.
Also, they added Richaun Holmes and Seth Curry to the roster.
There is no question the Mavericks should be a playoff team in 2023.
But a lot will rest on the shoulders of Irving and Doncic.
Staying healthy has always been a problem for Irving.
He will need to be on the floor consistently to help take some of the offensive pressure off of Doncic.
But the addition of Williams and others as role players should help the Mavs have a much more successful year.
