Gilbert Arenas Gets Brutally Honest On Bol Bol’s NBA Future

Bol Bol has always been an intriguing player ever since he entered the NBA for the 2019-20 season.

He is the son of Manute Bol, who played in the league in the 1980s and 1990s and stood 7-foot-7, and thus he faced some relatively high expectations, not to mention plenty of attention.

The younger Bol recently signed with the Phoenix Suns, a team that badly needs the type of size, shot-blocking, and finishing ability he can provide.

But former NBA star Gilbert Arenas feels the 7-foot-2 center doesn’t really have a future in the league because he lacks the requisite attitude.

Gilbert Arenas on Bol Bol:

“Have you ever seen a really beautiful girl? She’s beautiful, got a bad attitude, right? She’s not attractive no more because of her attitude. Bol Bol is the pretty girl with a bad attitude.”

The younger Bol played one season of college basketball at the University of Oregon, during which he averaged 21.0 points and 9.6 rebounds a game.

While there, he blocked 24 shots in nine games, and he also showed some distance on his jumper by shooting 52.0 percent from 3-point range.

But he hasn’t panned out in the pros, at least not yet.

This past season was his best yet, as he played in 70 games and averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocked shots in 21.5 minutes a contest for the Orlando Magic.

His new team, the Suns, have two big problems: a lack of viable depth and a lack of size at the center position behind starter Deandre Ayton.

If the younger Bol is healthy and up to the task, he could play a key role for a team that has some serious star power and is expected to seriously contend for the NBA championship this coming season.
