This week, the Dallas Cowboys decided to take care of one of their own, with training camps in the NFL getting underway and the 2023 NFL season right around the corner.
With the Cowboys making a lot of headlines as of late due to what many expect to be a dominant defense next season, Dallas has agreed to sign star cornerback and two-time Pro Bowler Trevon Diggs to a five-year deal worth $97 million.
This is quite the commitment to a corner in the league, but the team feels he’s worth it, as he has proven to be an interception machine during his first three years in Dallas.
Diggs has made such an impact defensively with his ability to be a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks that he has recorded more interceptions by himself since 2021 than the entire Las Vegas Raiders franchise, according to Brad Spielberger of PFF.
Interceptions since 2021:
Trevon Diggs – 14 (leads the NFL)
The Las Vegas Raiders – 12

During his All-Pro season with the Cowboys in 2021, Diggs hauled in an incredible 11 interceptions to go along with two defensive touchdowns.
In that season alone, Diggs came one interception shy of tying the Raiders, which is a remarkable feat, to say the least, and one of the main reasons why he is now a very wealthy man and considered to be one of the best corners in the NFL today.
With Diggs having his long-term future with the team secured it’ll be interesting to see if the Cowboys defense can live up to the hype with the recently extended corner and star linebacker Micah Parsons leading the way for the storied franchise.
