Daniel Jones’ 2022 season was a step in the right direction, improving after his first three years in the league.
The New York Giants seemed to agree, giving him a four-year contract, hoping he’ll continue to hone his craft.
While many Giants fans seem excited about Jones’ future with the team, Tiki Barber has taken his projection further.
According to Barber via WFAN Sports Radio, “Daniel Jones can be a top-five quarterback.”

Jones’ 2022 season, statistically speaking, was the best of his career thus far.
He finished the year with 3,205 passing yards, throwing just 15 touchdowns and five interceptions.
While his yardage total was 15th highest in the league, his 15 touchdown passes were fewer than Davis Mills, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Russell Wilson, who all had down years.
Many analysts around the league have used that as a negative to Jones.
If his career year was a down year for other QBs in the league, what does that say for Jones’ ceiling moving forward?
Despite his numbers, Barber still firmly believes Jones can be a top-five player.
One of the most positive aspects of Jones’ game is his rushing upside, as he ran for 708 yards in 2022, which added seven touchdowns to his total.
Jones’ ceiling could get closer to what Barber thinks it can be if he takes another step forward as a passer, along with similar rushing totals.
There are a lot of “What-ifs” to the Giants, with Jones being one of them.
If they can answer many of these questions, however, the Giants could be in for another playoff berth, potentially more.
