The running market in the NFL could be in trouble if current trends continue.
Organizations continue to devalue the position, as evidenced by the lack of signing players like Josh Jacobs and Austin Ekeler to contract extensions.
Many fans know that some top running backs recently organized a private Zoom call, hoping to ease these tensions.
After this call, the Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, took to Twitter, discussing the new CBA, and called out agents for operating under “bad faith.”
Jonathan Taylor’s agent immediately responded to Irsay’s comments, saying, “Bad faith is not paying your top offensive player.”

Taylor is only under contract with the Colts for one more season and is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024 unless he signs an extension.
The Colts, at least publically, haven’t discussed an extension with Taylor, who, when healthy, has been one of the best backs in the league.
Whether his agent was referring to him or the other backs that have faced this situation remains to be seen.
Regardless, if recent trends indicate, it could be a bad sign for Taylor, even though he is a phenomenal talent.
Irsay is widely regarded as one of the most well-respected owners across the sport.
When he talks, people tend to listen, which includes fellow owners.
The aftermath of comments from both Irsay and Taylor’s agent, Malki Kawa, could potentially cause conflicts between players and front offices.
When Taylor’s rookie contract is up, will the Colts decide to extend him?
Or will they follow recent trends and sign him to the franchise tag for at least one more year?
