The St. Louis Cardinals will certainly be an interesting team to watch at the trade deadline.
However, despite President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak stating that they would be sellers, mixed messages have been sent to the fanbase.
John Denton, who covers the Cardinals for MLB.com, released his weekly newsletter and revealed some interesting news about where the team is headed in the coming days.
Yet things aren’t looking any clearer to anybody in St. Louis, via STL Sports Central on Twitter.
As the trade deadline moves closer and closer, we now have more insight into how the #STLCards will approach it (all via John Denton)

Denton pointed out that the team is becoming concerned about right-hander Ryan Helsley’s growing frustration with the organization over his arbitration situation, and that they may look to deal him.
Other reports indicate that the club could even be willing to trade left-hander Steven Matz.
In terms of who else might be traded, it appears that the Cardinals are less inclined to deal players such as Nolan Gorman, Tommy Edman, Tyler O’Neill, and Brendan Donovan, but are listening on Paul DeJong, Dylan Carlson, Jordan Montgomery, and Alec Burleson.
This is certainly odd for the Cardinals to label players as untouchable.
The team is in desperate need of starting pitchers and relievers under club control who could help them next season.
In order to get what they need, the Cardinals will have to make some tough decisions and trade some players.
As of now, their plan is unclear, and the deadline is now less than a week away.
