The NFL season hasn’t even started, and the New York Jets could already be in trouble.

Star wideout Garrett Wilson suffered an apparent ankle injury during Thursday’s practice.

NFL insider Dov Kleiman shared a video of Wilson limping off the field, and even though the fact that he was able to walk on his own is encouraging, the team should still monitor his situation closely.

Wilson was obviously done for the day, and he’s expected to undergo more testing.

Needless to say, this would pretty much rule him out of this year’s Hall of Fame game vs. the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, August 3, although he wasn’t expected to play that much anyway.

Wilson is fresh off a remarkable rookie campaign.

He was taken out of Ohio State with the No. 10 pick, making 17 appearances and hauling in 83 receptions on 147 targets for 1,103 yards and four scores.

Despite a subpar QB situation with a revolving door of Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco, and Chris Streveler, he still managed to produce at an elite level, running away with NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Obviously, he’s expected to post even better numbers now that Aaron Rodgers will be under center, and he’s the undisputed No. 1 target in the passing game.

Fortunately for him and the Jets, the team has enough depth at the WR position to allow him to get back to the field slowly if needed, with Allen Lazard most likely taking his No. 1 spot if he were to miss any time.
