The Miami Dolphins had plenty of optimism and excitement for the new NFL season after trading for veteran star cornerback Jalen Ramsey during the offseason.

He joined four-time Pro Bowl corner Xavien Howard and was expected to give the team a major upgrade on the defensive side of the football.

However, that optimism and excitement has been replaced by anxiety and fear after Ramsey went down with a knee injury on Thursday.

Per Adam Schefter, he will undergo surgery and miss the start of the regular season.

This fan, however, is trying to sport a positive attitude about the injury.

Luckily Secondary is their deepest position. This is great news if he’ll only misses 3-4 weeks

Last season, Miami made the playoffs for just the third time since 2001, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa started to blossom and newcomer Tyreek Hill had a career year in receiving yards.

Their defense was a problem, as they were 24th in points allowed and 27th in passing yards given up, and it was thought that Ramsey would change that.

If he only misses a few weeks or even less than two months, it may be a situation that the Dolphins could manage, given the rest of their talent.

However, the AFC is extremely competitive, and the AFC East is arguably the best division in all of the NFL, with the Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets all having legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.

Simply losing one game they should win could mean the difference between them competing for a world championship and missing the playoffs entirely.
