A few years ago, the Los Angeles Clippers made some bold moves during the NBA offseason to build a legitimate title contender, with the team signing superstar forward Kawhi Leonard and trading for Paul George in a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Those two moves were considered a game-changer for the struggling franchise and would finally put this team where they needed to be to contend with the best of the best in the Western Conference.

Unfortunately, Leonard and George have struggled to stay healthy throughout their entire time in Los Angeles, so the team has never really been able to live up to its true potential.

With Leonard and George nearing a point where they can sign contract extensions, it seems as though the team isn’t rushing to get anything done, as it’s possible Steve Ballmer and company want to see how the 2023-24 NBA season pans out.

ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk recently talked about the situation in Los Angeles with Zach Lowe on The Lowe Podcast.

Even though the Clippers are not rushing to sign both players to an extension at this point, it would be unwise for the team not to make these moves with only one more season left at Crypto.com Arena.

After the upcoming NBA season, the Clippers will move into their arena in Inglewood called the Intuit Dome, and to fill the seats in the arena, they’ll need stars like Leonard and George.

Along with these two superstars potentially getting extended this year, the Clippers are the preferred destination of James Harden, who has requested to be traded after opting into the final year of his deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

A lineup of Leonard, George, Harden, and Russell Westbrook sounds like pure entertainment and exactly what Ballmer wants to get things started in Inglewood.
