The running back position in the NFL has taken a lot of lumps lately, with players at the position very worried about their long-term futures in the league, as it seems teams are only content with short-term deals for even the best backs in the NFL.
After Saquon Barkley agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Giants and Josh Jacobs chose to hold out of training camp for the Las Vegas Raiders, the latest drama among running backs in the NFL has been spearheaded by Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Taylor let it be known that he wants the Colts to trade him, which sparked an immediate reaction from team owner Jim Irsay, who claims the team will not be trading Taylor now or anytime soon.
As a former star running back in the NFL, LeSean McCoy is siding with Taylor in this situation as he believes the Colts star will be the next back to set the market for players at the position via Speak On FS1.

Unfortunately for Taylor, last year was a forgettable one for the 24-year-old as he played in only 11 games and failed to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark during that time.
In 11 games for the Colts during the 2022 campaign, Taylor rushed for 861 yards and four touchdowns, a far cry from the year before when he racked up over 2,100 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns.
Only three years into his career in the league, Taylor is already a top-tier running back in the game and more than worthy of a hefty contract extension when the time comes.
