The summer of firings at ESPN has been a hotly-debated topic throughout sports media.
The network has gotten rid of several of its top on-air personalities, leaving a massive hole in many areas.
Although there was an initial mass-layoff, they aren’t done, as Mark Jackson, a longtime NBA analyst, was recently let go.
After this announcement, Jackson shared a heartfelt message, thanking many who helped propel his career.

Jackson began this message by thanking ESPN.
He then thanked Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Breen, who he worked closely with for many years.
Jackson’s message got broader as it went on, giving general thanks to ESPN’s crew, especially those not on air.
This message ended with well-wishes to ESPN’s new team, who will be without Jackson moving forward.
Publically, Jackson doesn’t appear to have any ill will toward the network.
While this was a shocking split, Jackson will likely find employment elsewhere shortly, given his well-regarded analysis.
With this layoff in mind, will ESPN cut ties with other analysts?
ESPN has been the largest sports network for many years, best known as “the worldwide leader in sports.”
If they are having difficulties paying some of their most-talented analysts, what does that say about the future state of affairs for the organization?
This situation will be closely monitored as the NBA, NFL, and NHL seasons get closer,
Fans are closely affiliated with their favorite analysts and commentators, but many more could be on the chopping block if current trends continue.
