It seems like almost no one around the nation is talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It’s understandable, as they have missed the playoffs in each of the last three seasons and may not reach the 2024 NBA playoffs.
However, they’re just starting to build an interesting young core that includes All-Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and big man Chet Holmgren, who was the No. 2 pick in last year’s draft.
Josh Giddey, another promising young player they have, talked about how he is excited for the upcoming season with the Thunder, via ClutchPoints on Twitter.
“It’s a deep team. We got a lot of guys we can look to. I’m excited. Everyone’s healthy and so it’ll be good.”

Giddey, a 6-foot-8 forward, is one of a handful of NBA players who is originally from Australia, and Oklahoma City took him with the No. 6 pick in the 2021 draft.
He made the All-Rookie Second Team in his first season, and this past season he averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
The Thunder weren’t expected to do anything significant last season, but they unexpectedly won 40 games and reached the play-in tournament, where they won the first game against the New Orleans Pelicans before falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Gilgeous-Alexander had his best season yet, putting up 31.4 points and 5.5 assists per contest, and he was also one of the league leaders in free-throw attempts per game despite his very lanky frame.
Holmgren missed all of this past season after suffering a foot injury in a pro-am game last summer, but he is healthy again and set to make his NBA debut in October.
Perhaps the Thunder will stun and impress the league by making the playoffs this coming season thanks to Giddey, Gilgeous-Alexander, and Holmgren.
