The Boston Celtics kicked off the NBA offseason with a big move by trading Marcus Smart to get Kristaps Porzingis.
And while most fans hated losing Smart to get him, they still embraced him from day one.
That’s why they rallied on Twitter to wish the former top-10 pick a happy 28th birthday.
Happy birthday Green LEGEND !

It seems like it was just yesterday that Porzingis took the league by storm as a rookie for the New York Knicks.
A lot has transpired ever since, and while he may not turn out to be the superstar and perennial All-Star some thought he’d be during his days in the Big Apple, it’s safe to say he’s had a pretty decent career thus far.
The Latvian big man has been able to put up big numbers more often than not, dominating both ends of the glass, knocking down shots from all over the court, and even swatting a couple of shots every now and then.
Notably, he’s never been in a better position to succeed than he is nowadays, but he’ll have to embrace a lesser role, which has been kind of an issue throughout the course of his career.
He already took a bit of a backseat to Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal during his days with the Washington Wizards, and that’s not going to change in Boston for as long as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are with the Celtics.
Porzingis might be the piece they needed to finally get over the hump, barring injury.
