The 2022 NFL season was an absolute disaster for the Chicago Bears, with the storied franchise unable to get anything going their way, leading to a 3-14 record and a last-place finish in the NFC North.
Although it was a lot of doom and gloom in Chicago following the 2022 campaign, the team did have one bright spot in the form of quarterback Justin Fields, who really started to turn it on during the second half of last season.
Unfortunately, Fields’ inspired play didn’t lead to more than three wins on the season, but it was potentially a sign of things to come in Chicago, as the team may have finally found their franchise quarterback.
One sign that the team has a lot of confidence in Fields moving forward is the Bears trading the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers.
With four potential franchise quarterbacks in the draft, this showed the team is sold on Fields, and it appears he’s making an impact on his teammates during training camp, with wide receiver Darnell Mooney recently singing his praises, via Arye Pulli of The Sports Place.

With Fields clearly making progress in terms of knowing the playbook back to front and being in control of the offense, the Bears could take the next step during the 2023 campaign and might be a surprise team in the NFC.
However, Chicago will still have the challenge of competing in the NFC North, with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions expected to be legitimate playoff teams, meaning it could be another challenging year for Fields and company.
