Back in the early 2000s, Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson were two of the biggest stars in the NBA.

They were not only prolific in terms of their production, but their personalities seemed to transcend the game off the court as well.

The two faced off in the 2001 NBA Finals, and it wasn’t a fair fight, as Iverson’s Philadelphia 76ers were clearly inferior to O’Neal and the Los Angeles Lakers, resulting in a five-game loss for the Sixers.

Iverson commented on Instagram that O’Neal prevented him from winning an NBA championship, and the big man responded that Iverson never needed a championship ring.

“U don’t need one you one of the greatest and a hall of fame first ballot no questions asked.”

Iverson played 14 seasons in the NBA, and during that time, he won four scoring titles.

The 2001 season was his zenith, and he led the league in both scoring and steals while taking home the regular season MVP award.

His 76ers lacked offensive firepower, as he was their only player to average over 13 points a game, but they showed a good amount of heart in the championship series, even as the Lakers made quick work of them.

Off the court, Iverson was a cult hero and he still has a solid following to this day.

O’Neal, of course, was one of the most dominant big men of all time, and some consider him the best center to ever play basketball.

That 2001 championship he won was one of three in a row he earned along with Kobe Bryant, and those three rings transformed him from a great player to a legendary one.
