The Toronto Blue Jays were busy this year at the trade deadline and have now geared up for a postseason run.
Earlier this week, however, the team received a devastating blow when Bo Bichette went on the injured list thanks to right patellar tendinitis.
That led to the Blue Jays ultimately acquiring Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals.
But despite the injury to Bichette, the Blue Jays aren’t panicking.
On Friday, slugger Whit Merrifield stopped by the MLB podcast “Foul Territory” to discuss what took place and why he still believes the Blue Jays are a strong team despite the fact that Bichette is out.
Despite the injury to Bo Bichette, @WhitMerrifield feels like the Blue Jays are still very dangerous.

Merrifield was asked by Adam Jones about the temperament in the clubhouse after the Bichette injury.
The slugger said that the Blue Jays are still confident in the team that they have and that the vibes inside the clubhouse are much better than the vibes outside of the clubhouse.
He acknowledged that the team hasn’t played to its full potential to this point, but he still believes that they are in a good spot to reach the postseason.
Merrifield says the Blue Jays’ goals have not changed, despite the fact that the Baltimore Orioles are well ahead of them in the AL East.
The Orioles have had the Blue Jays’ number so far this season, and Merrifield gave them credit for their series win at Rogers Centre.
However, he continued to express belief in what the Blue Jays have on their roster and that they can ultimately put together a run.
