The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have recently released an unofficial depth chart less than a month before the season starts.
While there weren’t many surprises, Adam Schefter has recently highlighted an uncommon addition to the depth chart.
As Schefter points out, there is an “or” between Kyle Trask and Baker Mayfield under the quarterback section.

This indicates that the organization is torn about its starter for the 2023 season.
The Buccaneers took Trask in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Trask played well at the University of Florida, but he hasn’t had many chances in the NFL.
The most recent reports out of the Buccaneers’ camp have indicated that both Trask and Mayfield have encountered their fair share of individual struggles.
If they perform similarly moving forward, Mayfield could start Week 1, if for no other reason than his prior experience.
Mayfield has started 69 career games.
While he hasn’t necessarily found the success that one might expect from a former No. 1 overall pick, he does have experience.
The Buccaneers find themselves in an interesting position.
Their division is up for grabs, and besides the quarterback position, their roster is veteran-laden.
Many of their star players are in the twilight of their careers, and they are likely to only have a few more productive years left.
Will the 2023 season yield a positive result for a Buccaneers team that is under new leadership?
Or, will they find themselves in the midst of a rebuild, ending the 2023 campaign in a spot where they might look elsewhere?
