It has been more than ten years since LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers played for Team USA in the Olympics.
He last represented his country in the games back in 2012, when he led them to secure a gold medal.
Since then, James has been focused on winning at home.
With the 2024 Olympics looming next summer, people are wondering if he will decide to play one last time.
Speaking on “The Hoop Collective” show, Brian Windhorst wasn’t so sure if James will be in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“He never rules it out, typically, until the end,” Windhorst said and noted that training for the games would start at the beginning of July and that the whole experience would eat into his valued family and vacation time.
James has had mixed experiences with the Olympics.
When he first went to play for Team USA, he saw a limited amount of time on the floor and the team ended up winning bronze.
That was the first time that Team USA didn’t secure a gold medal since adding NBA stars to the roster.
His next two showings were much better and he quickly became the man who guided and drove the team, especially as Kobe Bryant stepped back due to age.
He definitely ended things on a high note with the 2012 games.
But many fans are hoping he gets inspired to play one more time.
He wouldn’t have to put in as many minutes and would act more as a mentor for the squad.
It would be the last chance to make the country proud on a big, international stage.
There is no doubt that James will be actively rooting for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics.
We just don’t know how involved he will be.
